The Grande Prairie Soaring Society activities takes place at the
Beaverlodge Airport. Beaverlodge is located about 40 km northwest of
Grande Prairie. We have both a paved and grass strip running parallel
to each other. Most of our activity is from the grass strip.
We usually fly on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Occasionally we may
fly during the weekday, depending on who is available.
Winch Launch
All of our flights are with winch launches, which gives us between
1000' and 1500' feet of altitude from the ground at the time of
release. Because of a winch launch we can keep our costs very
reasonable. The down side is that if there is little or no lift
available at time of release, the flights can be very short. But if you
